What is Reiki? A Brief Overview
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is an ancient holistic healing method that induces deep relaxation allowing stress to be released from the body, eventually returning the body to a state of balance enabling you to more easily maintain a state of health and well being.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words — Rei which means "the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy."
Reiki is an ancient Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes self-healing from within. It is administered to a fully-clothed individual by the "laying on of hands" and is based on the idea that a "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If the "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress. If it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and creates a favorable effect. It works together with other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
The ability to give Reiki is not learned in a traditional class — the technique is passed on during an "attunement" given by a Reiki master and allows the recipient to tap into an unlimited supply of "life force energy" or "ki" to improve one's health and enhance the quality of life.
A treatment feels like an amazing glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, mind, soul, emotions and spirit. Reiki creates many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being. Many have reported incredible results.
